Untethered
by Mary Ann Taylor, on mindfulness
Sorry to be late.
The surface of Mercury was hard to leave--
The brightness and darkness,
Stark metaphors,
Lend themselves to such peaceful reflections.
Thinking I had time,
I went on to Saturn,
Lingering briefly at the magnificent
Rings of hurtling stones
Better from a distance,
Actually.
Jupiter next, profound colors,
That jovial “eye” joyful to see.
Then I remembered I had places
To be, to be
Untethered, but alone
Knowing so much more
Than I can say,
But sorry to be late.
